SCOTT FALCONER
PHILOSOPHY
A local at heart, I grew and went to school in Upper Hutt. I love the area and the people.

My goal is to create environments where people can feel comfortable about exercising, without being judged, and be supported by a network of health professionals.

Sometimes people have limitations; either with their fitness, body or mind. But, more often than not we can work around them. My mission is to remove barriers and to help people exercise as often as they can.
I truly believe exercise is the best medicine – most effective in small and regular doses.

EXPERIENCE
I am proud to offer a boutique studio in Upper Hutt. I have owned the Exercise Studio in Silverstream since 2012.

In recent years we have developed a reputation for excellence in providing guidance and functional group exercise classes for persons in our community (aged 55+) (‘Active Aging’). We were the first to have our Active Aging program accredited as part of the Ministry of Health and ACC’s Live Stronger For Longer initiative.

I have worked hard to gain a Functional Aging Specialist qualification, meaning I am an expert in exercise with the Aging Population and in reintroducing individuals into exercise who have an injury or health complications.

My other specialty is working with driven and determined sports people. As a Wellington and New Zealand hockey representative player and coach, I have had experience of sport at an elite level. I understand the training and commitment required to be at the top of your sport and remain there. My main focus points when working with athletes are around technique, movement, speed, athleticism and injury prevention to create a well-rounded individual and athlete.
PERSONAL
QUALIFICATIONS
When I am not at work, usually I am still involved in sport in some way. I run popular junior hockey coaching clinics as well as providing coaching to senior representative teams.

I’ve just started competing in distance running events and thoroughly enjoy the physical and mental challenge that endurance sport brings. An ideal day for me would be to hit the running trails in the morning and spend a relaxing afternoon and evening with my wife and two daughters.

I firmly believe the benefits of exercise are enormous and everyone can exercise in some way or another.
