We help our community get moving and keep it up. We understand that everyone is different, and therefore is comfortable or challenged by working out in different ways. We know that finding time to exercise can be tough. So, that's why we offer different options for our community; allowing you to do what suits you when you need.
ONE TO ONE PERSONAL TRAINING
We have a team of experienced and professional exercise coaches who can work with you individually or in a small group of up to three people. We can create an exercise program for you to perform in your own time, or we can see you regularly for workouts to keep you motivated. Seeing a coach helps you avoid those progress plateaus, and one-to-one personal training means you will experience sessions that are individually tailored to your goals, strengths, and weaknesses. You’ll get guidance about what you’re doing to reduce the risk of injury or overtraining.
WORKING OUT ON YOUR OWN
Our small boutique studios offer you a range of high-quality equipment, which means we have everything you need to do your own workouts. Whether you are new to gym exercise or a seasoned gym-goer, it will work. Our studios are open 5 am -10 pm daily so you can fit your workout in around your other commitments.
EXERCISE & MOVEMENT CLASSES
We specialise in exercise and movement classes for groups of people in our community whose needs are alike because of medical conditions or age. Classes are open to members and non-members alike.
Active Aging is a circuit group with exercises primarily focused on balance, strength, and movement to help with activities and hobbies in every-day life. The circuit is set up and supervised and is suitable for all levels of fitness age 55+. Active Aging is an approved strength and balance programme as part of ACC and the NZ Government's Live Stronger for Longer initiative. Concession cards are available.
Diabetes Exercise Classes
Our diabetes exercise classes are aerobic-style workouts where we aim to raise your heart rate to improve cardiovascular function, while still working with you at your own intensity. Blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar levels, along with other health functions can all be improved with an increased level of cardiovascular fitness. Also, we take optional blood sugar levels at the start of each session so you can monitor your reading over time.
Arthritis Exercise Hour
10-60 minutes of gentle movement-based exercise. How much and what you do is dependent on your capabilities. We provide thorough supervision, support, and advice from our experts. Exercise is the number one recommendation for the treatment of osteoarthritis, so our goal is to help you "move it to improve it".
Run from inside our Studios, our circuits alternate bursts of cardio and strength exercises with short periods of rest. Strength work includes a mixture of body weight and equipment based exercises. No circuit is the same. Circuits are a great way to stay motivated or to gain confidence in a range of exercises. During the circuits, our team members ensure that exercises can be moderated where necessary to meet your individual needs. Circuits are free for members. Limited numbers each circuit apply.
Joining our regular outdoor bootcamps alongside a core of committed regular members can be a rewarding and challenging experience. You do not need to be a member of our Studios to participate. We run six rounds of bootcamp throughout the year; on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 6.00am in Silverstream. You can choose to sign up for two or three sessions a week. Sessions involve combinations of cardio, body weight exercises, kettlebells, speed, agility, and boxing. Sessions are designed to keep you challenged and motivated. Available for both members (at a discount) and non-members.
We believe that complementing your regular exercise routine with additional activities helps with overall health and well-being. We are proud to offer Hatha Yoga with Claire Wright from our Silverstream Studio. This style of Yoga concentrates on physical health and mental well-being. It uses bodily postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), and meditation (dyana) with the goal of bringing about a sound, healthy body and a clear, peaceful mind. 9-10 week terms of Yoga are available for both members (at a discount) and non-members.
